Brownstone is one of Avon’s newer residential neighborhoods, tucked into the north side of town near Ronald Reagan Parkway, with streets such as Sunset Boulevard, Cobble Court, Stone Trace Court, and Prospect Way. The neighborhood itself is peaceful and residential, but that is part of the appeal: residents are only a short drive from one of Avon’s most convenient dining corridors.
For Brownstone food fans, the main action is along U.S. 36, especially between Avon Avenue and Ronald Reagan Parkway. That stretch combines family restaurants, international food, coffee stops, dessert counters, and quick takeout spots. Here are the places I would put on a Brownstone regular’s rotation.
Start with Avon’s International Food Corridor
One of the best things about living near Brownstone is how quickly dinner can turn into a mini culinary trip around the world.
At Bangkok Kitchen, located at 9269 E. U.S. Highway 36, Thai favorites come with plenty of flexibility. Expect classics such as pad Thai, fried rice, curry, spring rolls, summer rolls, and noodle dishes, with spice levels that can be adjusted to your comfort zone. Appetizers generally land around $7–$10, while most lunch and dinner entrées fall in the roughly $12–$20 range. It is an excellent choice when you want something more flavorful than standard suburban takeout but still relaxed enough for a weeknight.
Right next door, Yats brings Cajun and Creole comfort food to the same U.S. 36 cluster. This is one of my favorite “I need a filling meal without spending much” destinations. Think spicy jambalaya, gumbo, étouffée, red beans, and other spoonable dishes served over rice. Most meals are in the inexpensive range, commonly around $10–$15, making Yats an easy pick for lunch or a casual dinner. The food is bold, hearty, and built for leftovers.
For Vietnamese comfort food, make the short drive to Pho 36, at 9655 E. U.S. Highway 36. The namesake pho is the obvious order, but the menu also offers rice dishes, vermicelli bowls, spring rolls, and other Vietnamese staples. A typical meal is moderately priced, generally around $12–$20. It is particularly satisfying on a cold Indiana day, when a steaming bowl of broth and noodles feels like exactly the right answer.
In the same general shopping area, Thai Mama offers another casual option for Thai food. This is a useful hidden gem when you want familiar favorites without committing to a long dinner. Order curry, noodles, fried rice, or stir-fried dishes for takeout, with most plates in the $12–$20 range. Meanwhile, Fuji Ramen at 10022 E. U.S. Highway 36 is worth remembering for ramen bowls, Japanese comfort food, and a cozy meal when you want something warm and substantial.
Date-Night Italian and Avon Classics
For a more polished dinner, Charbonos remains the standout near Brownstone. Located at 128 N. Avon Avenue, it is close enough for a quick drive from the neighborhood and dependable enough for birthdays, anniversaries, business dinners, or an evening when you simply want to sit down somewhere nice.
The menu covers Italian-American favorites, steaks, salads, house-made sauces, and wood-fired pizzas. Charbonos describes its style as rustic and Tuscan-inspired, and the setting feels more elevated than a typical strip-center restaurant without becoming stuffy. Expect appetizers and soups around $6–$15, entrées often in the $18–$35 range, and pizzas suitable for sharing. The chicken velvet soup is a local favorite, while the pasta and wood-fired pizza make the restaurant work equally well for families.
For Greek and Mediterranean food, Opa! Authentic Greek-American Cuisine & Bar at 7900 E. U.S. Highway 36 is a reliable choice. Gyros, Greek salads, hummus, grilled meats, and Mediterranean platters make it a good stop when you want something lighter than a burger but still satisfying. Plan on approximately $12–$25 per person, depending on whether you order a sandwich, platter, or drink.
Pizza fans have several options along the corridor. Magoo’s California Pizza, at 10584 E. U.S. Highway 36, is a fun choice for creative pizzas and casual family meals. It is generally in the $10–$20 range per person and works well for game nights, takeout, or feeding a group.
Breakfast, Coffee, and Bakery Runs
Brownstone mornings call for a dependable breakfast route, and Big Apple Bagels at 8115 E. U.S. Highway 36 is one of the easiest stops. Bagel sandwiches, cream cheese, breakfast combinations, and coffee make it a practical place for a quick weekday meal. Prices are usually budget-friendly, around $5–$12 per person. It is also a good “grab something for everyone” option when guests are visiting.
For a slower coffee stop, Cabin Coffee at 5530 E. U.S. Highway 36 offers espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea, and light breakfast items in a comfortable café setting. Most drinks and small bites fall around $4–$12. It is the kind of place that works for catching up with a friend, answering emails, or picking up a warm drink before heading to the Ronald Reagan Parkway Trail.
When breakfast needs to be hearty, look toward Emmy’s Pancake House & Grill in Beechwood Centre. Pancakes, omelets, skillets, French toast, and classic diner-style plates make it a family favorite, with most meals in the $8–$16 range. The Beechwood Centre area near U.S. 36 is one of the most convenient food clusters for Brownstone residents because it combines breakfast, fast casual, shopping, and coffee in one easy trip.
Dessert Stops and Sweet Traditions
No local food guide is complete without Danny’s Mexican Ice Cream, at 7730 E. U.S. Highway 36. This is one of Avon’s most distinctive dessert destinations, offering Mexican-style ice cream and unusual flavors alongside more familiar favorites. Depending on the day, you may find combinations that are sweet, salty, spicy, or unexpectedly savory. Budget about $5–$12 per person.
For a more traditional ice cream stop, Bruster’s is another popular choice in Avon, especially after dinner or during warm-weather evenings. The local tradition is simple: finish a meal along U.S. 36, then keep the night going with a cone, sundae, or milkshake.
Food Trucks and Community Eating
Brownstone’s food-truck scene is less about one permanent truck and more about seasonal gatherings. Avon’s parks and community events regularly bring in mobile vendors, especially during summer concerts, festivals, and family nights. Town events such as Night at the Park feature food trucks alongside live music and activities, while fall festivals commonly include mobile food vendors and dessert stops.
That makes Avon’s food-truck tradition pleasantly spontaneous. You may find barbecue, tacos, sandwiches, loaded fries, lemonade, or ice cream depending on the event lineup. Watch the town calendar and local event pages, then bring the family to Avon Town Hall Park or another community venue for dinner that feels more like an outing than a restaurant run.
The best part of dining near Brownstone is the variety. Within a few minutes of home, you can move from Thai curry to Cajun rice, Italian pasta, Vietnamese pho, Greek gyros, bagels, coffee, and Mexican ice cream. That combination of convenience and choice is what makes Brownstone a particularly enjoyable home base for Avon food lovers.
